Comcast is the largest cable TV company and largest home Internet service provider in the United States. With the partnership announced with Netflix in 2016, the project consisted in allowing to Comcast customers to access to Netflix on Comcast's X1 cable box platform.
Netflix had already migrated all its infrastructure to the cloud (as explained on their website https://about.netflix.com/en/news/completing-the-netflix-cloud-migration). The project with Comcast consisted in integrating with Comcast Xfinity X1 entertainment library.
Serverless services are used to encode media files and back up files for disaster recovery.
Managing peaks at prime time in multiple regions, maintaining performance and keeping costs low were the main requirements.
The integration was delivered in 4 months with 2 developers.
